
Component 1: A Comprehensive Audit
The starting point for any effective Employee Relations Program is to conduct a comprehensive audit. This audit includes the following:
Step 1 Policy Review: Review all company policies and procedures to insure compliance with federal and state law and established Human Resource standards.
Step 2 Pay Review: Review the pay records to insure compliance with federal and state wage laws.
Step 3 Review of Practices: Review recruitment, hiring, classification, promotion and termination records to evaluate compliance with established federal and state law and established Human Resource standards.
Step 4 Employee Interviews: Interview all employees to ascertain compliance with classification and/or job description standards, the existence of any known employment complaints, and evaluation of the issue of work-life balance.
Step 5 Audit Report: Write a comprehensive audit report identifying issues which are potential areas of recommended change.
